rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (Default)
( Aug. 3rd, 2012 09:26 pm)
for [personal profile] cellia: I wonder if there's a fanon explanation for why Buffy vamps seem to only react to crosses and holy water. Note: ignores much comics canon because honestly, I have no idea what’s going on there.

Actually, my egg is Jewish )
Resistance
BtVS/SPN. Basically gen though Dean’s hound-doggishness is mentioned. Violence! PG-13.
Summary: Sequel to Under Darkening Skies; makes no sense without reading that first. That whole Hart/Huntsman thing comes back to haunt Sam and Dean; Dean turns to his new friends for help. AU from mid-S3 of SPN and early S8 of BtVS, so rather a lot of SPN canon is ignored.
Notes: Beta by [personal profile] giandujakiss, [livejournal.com profile] shoofus, and [livejournal.com profile] counteragent, who were polite but firm. In Millennium Theater, I always hear Ani DiFranco sing “the resistance is still waiting to be organized,” but the lyrics sites say “the resistance is just waiting to be organized,” which is a much more hopeful sentiment. I wonder what it says about me that I hear the former.

Read the story on the AO3.

rivkat: Dean's arms (dean's arms)
( Apr. 11th, 2011 09:09 pm)
For my long-delayed sequel to the Buffy/SPN crossover Under Darkening Skies.  I've already made [personal profile] giandujakiss read it too many times and fresh eyes would be useful.  Largely gen, but Dean's eye for the ladies is in effect.
1. [personal profile] brownbetty: Max from DA finds a position as one of Lex Luthor's Girl Fridays. It's all fun and games until Alec shows up and tries to convince her Luthor's bent and she needs to book it.

we metahumans have to stick together )

2. [personal profile] ladydey: SV: Lex/Clark - Clark didn't realize (okay he might have been repressing it) how much he missed Lex, the real Lex. When Lex finally returned to Metropolis, Clark didn't know if he could ever stay away again.

return to me )

3. [livejournal.com profile] maraceles: I would die for more of the Captured by the Game universe--well, actually, a continuation of that story but an AU of the sequel. (Sam gets killed somehow during the final battle with Azazel, and Dean still makes his deal to get him back, still goes to Hell and is resurrected by Castiel, still starts up the Apocalypse.) Basically, I'd LOVE to see that Sam deal with the season four situation: Having lost Dean. Dealing with angels. Would Game!Sam and Game!Dean fare better then their canon versions? *g* Note: part but not all of the prompt. Maybe I’ll get to the angels later?

went a little nuts without you )

4. [personal profile] thefourthvine: SV, the axiom of choice! (And if you'd like a pairing with your prompt, Clark/Lex.)

Lex is quoting Bertrand Russell. )

5. [personal profile] kiezh: Smallville future: Lex and Clark mutual voyeurism, undiscussed but known to both. (One's got x-ray vision, the other has spy devices! It's a stalker match made in heaven!) Note: NC-17; various pairings.

Year of the Voyeur )

6. [personal profile] meret: I have a theory that Spike would fall head over heels in love with River Tam if they were to meet. She's part Drusilla, part Buffy, and part Fred.

and all awesome )

7. [personal profile] fandomfan: Supernatural: if you happened to snag any ideas from this set of photos, I'd be a happy camper. Yes, they're on set photos (from S3), but I would love and adore you for any scenario that could get Dean (rather than Jensen) in a bathrobe and slippers on a mini-scooter.

but why a *mini* scooter? )
rivkat: Dean reading (dean reading)
( Oct. 8th, 2010 12:41 pm)
Your internet is not my internet: I read about this new Facebook stuff and it just makes me confused. Filters are exotic and nobody knows how to use them? And so Facebook is going to let other people decide what my Groups are? Why can’t I manage my friends myself and filter out specific people when I need to? (I take it that hidden somewhere in the bowels of Facebook settings, deeper even than privacy controls, you can do this, but that they expect Groups to become dominant.)

The LJ/DW solutions seem so intuitive and elegant, whereas Facebook’s prompting for me to add people to various Lists has been terrible. Am I just wanting those kids to get off of my lawn? (I should also note: I declared LJ bankruptcy and gave up on updating my friendslist/filters there. I haven’t been filtering at DW, though I also have not been adding back journals that seemed to be for reading purposes only. I expect I will have to start filtering soon, though. So it’s not as if manual filtering is easy. It’s just so much better for what I want to do than automatically being added to groups!)

reviews: Ilona Andrews, music in Buffy, and digital images )
[livejournal.com profile] unbreakableburr: Buffy and Dean in a conversation about siblings and all that they bring, good and bad, to the table. Imagine a sort of crossover S8 for BtVS, if you will, and an indeterminate post-S5 time for SPN. Note: again, didn’t go where I planned, not so much with the parallels or even focusing on the siblings (to the extent that Dean can be said to exist without Sam).

coming back from the dead doesn't make you Jesus )

[personal profile] jain: SPN, Sam/Dean, settling down. Note: came out emo porn gen, though I doubt Sam/Dean fans would be disappointed.

[personal profile] ariadnes_string: Yiddishe!Dean--where did he learn all those words?

[personal profile] raveninthewind: I'd love something Casey/Chuck, but I don't know what exactly. There's always "undercover as a couple"? Cliche, but evergreen.

[personal profile] alexseanchai: SPN: The angels are obviously not above using unethical means to persuade Dean...well, Ben Braeden isn't the only person out there who's probably Dean's kid. (Just the only one Dean knows about so far.) And judging by Claire Novak, whatever makes Dean and Sam suitable angelic vessels has even odds (if not a guarantee) of being passed on to Dean's kids...

[livejournal.com profile] ruby_jelly: what happened next, in Finders Keepers (Sam/Dean), after Az discovered Dean's mutiny? And was Sammy as squeaky sweet as Dean wanted him to be? And did Sammy really think possession or partners? (Note 1: I think what came out is closer to this prompt than to [personal profile] thuviaptarth’s “FindersKeepers!Sam finds Dean more than he bargained for,” though I could see where one might disagree. Note 2: I’ve borrowed the name I used for “Meg” in Captured by the Game.)

( Sep. 27th, 2009 08:28 pm)
I decided to write up a list of vids I never get tired of, trying to limit myself to one per fandom except SPN, which means a large number got excluded. It’s also interesting to see which from my old recs post have become “rewatch a lot” vids. I’m definitely trending to faster cuts, but I still love my emo porn.

( Dec. 31st, 2008 08:59 pm)
Year-end roundup:  Boy did I write more than I meant to. Aside from the unfinished genderswap/switch, Deancubus, amnesia, and SV forced-to-marry stories, each of which is at or over 30 pages, and the shorter sequel to Under Darkening Skies, I finished (all SPN unless otherwise noted): the SPN/BtVS crossover Under Darkening Skies, a Sweet Charity story for [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss; DVD commentary on my SV story Rainbow Sign; a remix, Blink (The Rapid Eye Movement Remix); Tricking (my first hookerfic!); Filthy Mind; Captured by the Game (my first full-fledged AU!); the Filthy Mind sequel An Act I Would Enjoy; Lazarus Falling; Double Cross; and a bunch of stories and snippets for Eight Crazy Nights, including Tell It Slant (XF), Fides, a bunch of fun Chuck stuff, Gossip Girl (who knew that Faith Lehane and Blair Waldorf would be such a good combination?), and two Impala stories I like a fair amount.

Next year’s resolutions: finish the unfinished stories; think about a Mirror Universe story; write a paranormal romance.

Under Darkening Skies
Summary: The Winchesters take a job involving a demon-influenced woman and a powerful witch. Explicit heterosexual content (not, amazingly enough, involving Faith).  35,000 words.
Notes: Written for Sweet Charity for [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss. This goes AU early in SPN Season 3 and right after the first “episode” of Buffy Season 8. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] geekturnedvamp for beta and [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss for accepting a shift in her scenario!

Sigh. Someday I will learn [livejournal.com profile] astolat's trick of posting the story at her site with the LJ comment link simultaneously with the posting of the LJ entry, but today is not that day. So here's the first part of my Sweet Charity story for [livejournal.com profile] giandujakiss.

for [livejournal.com profile] chase820: What would a plastic surgery consultation between Christian Troy and Lex Luthor sound like? Yuletide story done (complete with humiliating spelling mistake and last-minute fix). Forty-two pages of Kryptonian Sex Secrets, with another twenty or so to go. Class to prep for. Book reviews to write up.

To prove I haven't left fandom, but also as a concession to reality, here's two pages of the SV/BtVS crossover that I'm never going to finish. (Hey, I hear Joss is writing an "eighth season" of Buffy in comic form. I'll go for it, and of course I'll read his Runaways when Brian K. Vaughn surrenders them, though I couldn't get into Whedon's X-Men.)

because I have a thing for genius redheads )
I want to listen to Season 7 commentaries to figure out what Whedon et al. were thinking, but 30 minutes into the first episode it's clear I can't stand to listen to all of them. Are there any particular episodes where the commentaries are particularly insightful?
