rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (Default)

OK, so it is the X-Files redux, down to Crane/Mulder's eidetic memory and Mills/Scully's need to stand on a box to keep them in the same frame.  I can work with that!

My husband was annoyed by the gun joke, because Crane would've been cashiered for throwing away such a valuable weapon.  Also it played weirder than in the preview--took up too much time for the payoff.  Which isn't to say I'm not really enjoying it all!

Yes, I like that it's an X-Files redux, and clearly so. Without the 'my sister is lost forever' angst. Or him spending all his time flipping out. Instead he keeps saying 'onward!'

Ichabod is so clearly delighted by Abbie, and I do like that he addresses her respectfully, and is seeking to get her to partner with him, rather than trying to educate her on things that she isn't quite willing to accept. Also, that in this last episode, he acknowledged that this was all something he hadn't been expecting either. Plus the fact that he just found out his wife's a witch? He's not some all-knowing figure, he's learning as he goes along, it's just that his points of reference are a bit different than Abbie's.

But yes, I am liking this trend of 'awesome woman and appreciating her awesomeness' that is becoming more prevalent. About time!

Sleepy Hollow is indeed shaping up to be most excellent cheese. As far as actual history goes, I figure it's best to consider the show as taking place in one of those alternate Hollywood universes in which Things Were Different -- the same universe, possibly, as the one where all the Buffy and Angel flashbacks took place, and the ones from Highlander, not to mention Shakespeare's ancient Greece and Rome (and possibly Chaucer's, too.)
