rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (just gay men)

OK, I already know that The Dead Zone is the best show you're not watching. But hearken, my friends, and I will give you another reason to watch the show: Cesca is writing Johnny/Walt slash (she provides useful pictures if you're unfamiliar) and it is good. Buddy slash, with extra Eve Kosofsky Sedgwick triangle-y goodness where they bond over their shared love of the same woman! Coma jokes! Armageddon, only better!

New episodes begin on June 12th and all 3 previous seasons are out on DVD; now would be a great time to get into the fandom. Also, the official website is fabulous, with full scripts, deleted scenes, and lots of other goodies.

Another really good show you're not watching -- this time probably because it's damned hard if you're not Canadian -- is The Collector, about Morgan Pym, a man who's just renegotiated his deal with the Devil so he gets to try to save people's souls before he takes them to Hell. They're going to Hell ten years after they bargained with the Devil -- his standard term -- and, while they always get what they asked for, they rarely get what they want, because the Devil likes nothing more than to make your wishes into nightmares. Some of the dealmakers are good people and others are bad, but Morgan tries to save them all by getting them to atone for the harm their deals caused (apparently the Devil works by moving luck around, so good luck for the dealmaker entailed bad luck for someone else). Because this isn't an American show, Morgan doesn't always win (one can indeed question whether he ever wins, since the Devil makes all the rules), and while the Morgan backstory is a lot lamer than the show thinks it is, he's still a compelling character and there are plenty of neat plot threads. Also, Morgan/Devil slash would work well, if you were into that sort of thing; the Devil is played by many actors, including cute little Emily Dinsmore, but often enough by the devilishly handsome Colin Cunningham.

yo, I like The Dead Zone, too.

Some of them have been just awesome, but I drift away when some are just okay.

*is a picky ho*

*will resume due to [livejournal.com profile] rivkat's wise influence*

In general, DZ episodes are at least pretty enough to keep my interest -- I love the special effects, and I like the mix of people who believe Johnny and who disbelieve. I thought the S3 finale pair of visions (in the bakery and in the other store) were just stunning, and I'm looking forward to more on the Stillson plot.

I was blown away by the one where we discovered that Johnny was the mysterious stranger who had helped him drag himself out of the car wreck.
Major cool.

Then of course, the one where the crazy murderous chicks were in that abandoned house was good, where Johnny was duct taped to a chair and the loony chick wanted to have his baby. heehee
