What's Latin for "I graded"?
Twenty-seven exams (First Amendment) down, 32 to go (trademark). I have a colleague who, after he'd just finished reading the exams for the first class he ever taught, was asked by one of his students what the exams were like. "Well," he said, "now I know why I did so well in law school." It took him years to live that down.
In other news, this looks wonderful -- Hamlet played with little plastic ninjas. Performance constitutes texts, people!
Yeah, right. I've never broken up with a show without breaking up with the fandom before, but I hope this will work. I can't even devote much brainpower to the finale (must grade!), except to say that it's got to be some kind of in-joke that we can't get a single episode without a paean to Lana's beauty. Some customs official will notice her, indeed. Oh Lionel, where was the sneer you had for her when you were occupying Clark's body?
Also, if Lex is the villain of the story, can I be blind too?

*clings* I've never needed a fandom like I do SV's. It's like group therapy, so I can get over the trauma. Thanks for the generous offer, AlMiles, but I'd rather stay in the non-Bizarro universe where Lex thinks--mistakenly or not--that he's the hero of the story (Talisman) and not at all like his father (Memoria).

A-FRICKEN-MEN. Seriously, how hard would it have been to have continued on with that plotline????

And on top of that, I'm moving, so I missed the Smallville finale AND the Serenity prescreening in Philly!

Or in your head. Or, you know, all of y'all and your brains. So, I'm never breaking up with the *idea* of Lex and Clark and certainly I am not breaking up with Superman because that is a one of the longest term relationships I have ever had, but at this point I have tried and tried and put on a happy face and wanked as much as possible and still Smallville comes home late smelling of cheap booze and cheaper women and never remembers my birthday and I think emptied out my bank account to take its mistress on a cruise.
So I just have to leave. No more counseling, no more cases of Smallville telling me "Baby, I've changed!" and giving me Transference only to then follow it up with a smack across my feminist face with Spell. No more.
Now, all I need to do is go to group and stay strong.

We're all going to end up on Jerry Springer with SV one day. Sure, it *tells* us it's changed, that it will straighten up and move out of it's parents basement and get a job - no, a real one, not gambling on weekends and going out and selling crack - but then it never calls and it gets high and comes home drunk and sleeps with our sisters and it just doesn't care, does it.
It's...possible I need some time away from this show.

Hey - I did it for XF! Granted, in that case the fandom was actually on more crack than the show itself (it had assgenies, but the fandom just had asses)...but it could work, right? We're a creative, enterprising bunch. S5 will tell...I get the feeling about 2/3 of the fandom isn't actually going to be watching the show anymore.

I'm not kidding about this -- the only chance the show has, and its a slim one, is Madelyn's campaign. They might still be able to position Lex's behavior last night as caused by... uh, the funny rocks. Or something. And put Clark through a serious course of rehabilitation. That's the only way I see anything being salvaged, but of course, I'm not putting any faith in it happening. ("Help us, Obi-Wan Madelyn! You're our only hope!")
