Are Mary, merry and marry all pronounced the same way?
Take this survey and find out what you and the rest of the nation think. It's a great series of questions and brought back memories of my very Texan debate coaches, who taught me that insurance and umbrella are best pronounced with the accent on the first syllable, that you ought to dance with the one what brung you, and that the name of the vehicle you hire from Avis is the rent car. I still don't pronounce insurance and umbrella the way they do (I, of course, pronounce those words correctly), but rent car and "might oughta," as in "you might oughta get out of the street before you get run over," are now and forever part of my vocabulary.

Are you from Texas? Does the phrase "fixin' to" make sense to you? *g*
"might oughta," as in "you might oughta get out of the street before you get run over,"
Now *that's* an important phrase to know.
