Is it so wrong to want to write a story inspired by the lyrics "What kind of guy does a lot for me?/Superman with a lobotomy"?
And, picking up from several others, tell me about my icons. Tell me especially if there's one that you'd pay me money, if only metaphorical money, never to use again, but you could also note ones you like.
Since I'm working my way through the various cliches I like, you may also wish to suggest which I should do next. I've done body switching already. Amnesia, waking up hungover in compromising circumstances with no memory of the night before, and waking up a girl are in beta. Your remaining options:
- Trapped in an elevator or other small space
- Drunken first-time sex (as Te puts it, "too drunk to be straight" or "two beer queer")
- Forced to have sex [by aliens, bad guys, the Kryptonian version of pon farr...]
- Lookalike sex substitute
I will take other suggestions -- body switching was
bonibaru's fault, after all -- but these are the ones I'd gravitate to on my own, now that I've started this perhaps quixotic project.

Lookalike sex substitute comes in second.

I also consulted

*Clark and Lex in quarantine. Mmm, trapped together with only each other for company!

I've had no sleep, can you tell? But my vote really is for forced to have sex.

Here is one other cliche possibility - falling for best friend after helping to hook them up with someone else (post Lana, if you go Lex to Clark, because you could argue that the situation that Lex an Clark were in during Season One, with Lex trying to help Clark get Lana, was that kind of situation or any time Clark to Lex.)

And a very mean part of me would love to see what you'd do with a lobotomized Superman...

Only in the way that is so, so right.
tell me about my icons.
I've always adored "When you're good to mama" and "just gay men." While generally speaking I can stare at animated icons for hours, "nice is different" is a bit irritating because I can't read the text with ease in the time available in a single cycle. The text on "just gay men" is much more legible. The christina ones bring the meh as far as I'm concerned.
Forced to have alien sex is widely known to be my bullet-proof kink. PonFarr!Clark, how I do love thee. You didn't mention pretend to be gay, but I have to vote for it as a second choice. Unless it's that oldest of standbys, sharing body heat aka blanketfic.

And I think my favourite of your icons is the Lex "Don't you people know a metaphor?" one.

I love that song! and you should soooo write the fic! LOL
Of your icons, 'just gay men' has always been a fave of mine. I can just hear them saying the lines.
And for Cliche fic, my personal fave is 'forced to have sex' or the 'fuck or die' scenario. *g* I think you wold write it really really well.
Looking forward to the stories in beta as well!

I was racking my brain for other cliches, and couldn't think of any, although I'm sure I will as soon as I press 'Post Comment'. In the realms of things which ought to be cliches, but sadly aren't, is first time sex which goes disastrously badly. There are only a few stories like that in the archive, but they tend to be intensely funny.

It's hard to decide between the remaining cliches. I'm rather fond of being trapped in a small space; drunken first-time sex is a classic for good reason, so I'm looking forward to your doing it, but I'm feeling more anticipation for others; pon farr or equivalent... I'd really like to see what you'd do with that too, though I worry about their being more alienated rather than less. The sex substitute is probably the one that I'm least interested in for its own sake, but I'd like to read whatever you write, really.
As for icons, there aren't any I'd hate to see or anything. I'm most fond of the assertive women ('good to mama' always makes me think of you), 'metaphor', 'lex flag', and 'just gay men'. 'Also, the 'your place or mine'. Riley gun' and 'plastic hand' don't mean much to me and I wonder whether they should. Catwoman, I like, but christina I could take or leave. I like the lisa/copyright icon and as for 'lawrence in the desert', while it seems different than the others, it's a pleasant, interesting image.

1. Romantic cliche - "The Bodyguard" - Y is kind of a jerk (public image); Y is in some nebulous danger; X is hired as a bodyguard for Y; they clash over level of protection and personality issues; they bond over some kind of shared ideals; Fall in love; final confrontation with the danger; final personal fight; they live happily ever.
2. Action cliche1 - "Kidnapped!" - Lex or Clark is kidnapped for a)white slavery, need rescue; b)secret underground fight club, needs rescue; c) other purpose, needs rescue.
3. Action cliche2 - the penultimate of action cliches - "Die Hard" - trapped in a)a building, b)a boat, c)train, d)plane with terrorists/political extremists/thieves/bad dudes. One is caught (most likely Clark - negates the use of the "super" powers), one free (Lex) needs to rescue everyone and prevent the terrorists from winning. Insurgence with Lex as the good guy trapped in the building.
I hope this adds to your list.
