Ok, because of Tumblr I watched the last few episodes of last season, plus the premiere; I had previously seen the pilot.  Can someone with more knowledge tell me why Alison isn't a bad guy who decided to hunt and torture Erica and Boyd because she was mad at the wolf who made them and they were vulnerable?  Even assuming a lawless, revenge-based world, what does she have against them?  When she was trying to apologize to Scott I just kept thinking wrong wolf, yo!

Don't watch the show, just the recaps and fanfic but I think the general idea(that the show is pushing for the fans) is that she was manipulated by someone she trusted during a time when she was extremely emotionally vulnerable--beloved aunt and mother, both murdered by werewolves within something like 6 months of each other--flipped out and had a period of temporary insanity and basically hated all wolves except Scott.

Which, I don't have a problem with that idea, I mean she was thrust into all this at the same time the rest of them were and they're all 16 and doing crazy shit and well, if this was Buffy, I'd expect more fallout/contemplation/redemption but *shrugs*

(And frankly, they let Peter hang around, when he murdered Derek's sister, cut her in half and left her in the woods like, well, an animal, attacked Lydia, then later almost drove her crazy, and I think they're using the same, 'well he was crazy at the time' reasoning so I don't really expect them to deal with this with any degree of intent)

Most of the other supernatural based teen aimed shows(SV, SPN, Charmed, TVD)have a history of glossing over moral and ethical issues anyway. Sadly my expectations are low.
