Via Blog of a Bookslut: Sometimes Even Wolverine Is Sad. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. The Bookslut is available as an xml feed for your friends page, by the way.

Fellow New Yorkers: Why didn't anyone tell me about the Housing Works Bookstore/Cafe down on Crosby Street? Much better organized (albeit smaller) than the Strand, chock full of quality books, most of them recent -- even a graphic novel section -- with hardcovers from about $12.50-4.00 and paperbacks about $2.00, except yesterday was 30% off day. Okay, so there are compensations to living in NYC.

Awww, I hate the Strand. Both versions. It's the tables with the books upright so you can't see the !@@##%$ titles.

[livejournal.com profile] cathexys reminded me that I hadn't (impoverished myself) visited labyrinthbooks.com recently. Fabulous "sale annex" with tons of cultural studies. hamiltonbooks.com has a less predictable range of scholarly books, but they're dead cheap when they have them and shipping is only $3.50 per order irrespective of size. Hamiltonbooks has a huge number of art books, for some reason.
