So, I have been silent because I am desperately trying to get ready for the start of class next week, when I begin teaching Trademark and do another round of Copyright. For Trademark, I'm going to try to make a sort of medley of songs/quotes using trademarks as cultural shorthand (a Mickey Mouse operation, etc.). I have a bunch of songs, but I was wondering if anyone could give me a sound clip of the following quote from "Fool for Love": "Look, I realize that every Slayer comes with an expiration mark on the package. But, I want mine to be a long time from now. Like a Cheeto."

I have no idea if this will work, but I'm going to try -- I've got lots of songs, like "Air Force Ones," "Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?" (Where is my Marlboro Man?), "Little Red Corvette," "Bad Touch," "Coca-Cola Cowboy," "Thank God and Greyhound You're Gone," etc. Any other suggestions would also be appreciated.

As far as trademark goes, you might want to look at some rap songs--a lot of those artists seem to like to name-check pretty much everything they wear, drive, or drink.

Some songs:
My Girlfriend (Jay-Z & Beyonce) mentions Burberry

In those Jeans (Ginuwine) (mentions a whole lot of designers, baby phat being one of them. there's also a baby phat logo in the video)

Pass the Courvosier (P. Diddy, Pharrell, etc.)

PIMP (50 cent) mentions...oh, hell. Gucci, Fendi, Prada, BCBG, Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana and Mercedes Benz

The Jump Off (Lil' Kim) Mercedes Benz, Bacardi, Jaguar, Escalade, etc.

I Just Wanna Love You (Jay-Z) Motorola, and a whole bunch of designer names.

And that's just off the top of my head. I listen to too much rap.

Thanks! I ended up just putting a bit of rap in, though I may modify it over time for future presentations. I found a page that actually monitors brand mentions in the Billboard top 20, and I saw a bunch of those songs -- I even downloaded In Those Jeans.

I have a lot of respect for vidders now, much more than I did before.
