lol--I can't say I noticed that when I watched it with my kids! (I did however, google the guy who plays Ian, because I was curious about how old he was, and saw thousands of v. twinky, mostly naked pics....*clutches pearls*)

I kinda loved the episode, tho'--loved how dystopian the whole thing is--very un-Hogwarts. The boys liked the fighting.

Oh, I'm definitely loving the overall arc (except how the girls just stand there in the fights except for getting one whack each this time). My eyes just bugged out when I got to this part.

The guy who plays Ian is very nicely muscled; I was assuming he must be in his 20s. Now I have to decide if I want to google all those pictures!

24, as far as I can tell. And, to be fair, I think they're all modeling pics--he's seems to have been quite the success. And he went to college on a soccer scholarship, so I guess he comes by the athleticism naturally.

You're right about the girls, though--

I...I am not familiar with the show at all, but I don't think you're wrong. I could easily see the actor unconsciously fiddling with a prop while talking, but certainly someone else should have picked up on that...

Those motions just seem oddly specific for fiddling with the prop, you know?

LOL! I can't say for sure, but I think that even without your prompt, I would have been, um, hard-pressed to see that sock-monkey arm as anything other than highly phallic.

I mean, monkey? Come on. I've just downloaded the first ep. It looks like a fun show.

I hope you like it! It's got a bunch of X-Files refugees on staff, so it's visually very nice.

I've watched the first ep now, and I'll definitely be watching more! What a fun show! Am I alone in hoping that the three very interesting-looking roommates become more than cardboard cutout high school villains?

Well, there is a lot of XF veteran involvement, so it's hard to say who's really a villain (or if they have any idea where they're going with the plot), but the core foursome does end up with some interesting antagonists/allies.

I've been thinking since episode 1 that the actor is playing Gabe as gay. If you go back to the very first time he sees Ian, there's a whole lot of staring involved. And then there was that episode with the Sirens, and Gabe being the only guy not reacting to them. At all.

So this? I don't think that wasn't intentional for a second.

Yes, I've definitely thought he was checking Ian out, but this was different! For one thing he starts talking about his dad right as he's finishing, not just Ian. I just think this was a failure of vision on the part of the network standards folks, and I really wonder whether the actor did it on his own or with help.

But the camera is moving towards his face the moment he starts talking of his father. The only thing you still see (and only for a short moment) is the shadow of Senor Guapo's leg.

I meant to add that I think it was a thing the actor and the director probably decided to do together. It would explain why the camera shot changes once the subject Gabe talks about changes.
