rivkat: Rivkid shakes tiny fist (shakes tiny fist)

Rivkid 2.0 (seeking better nickname) is here and I am now fine. Briefly, there’s this thing called an epidural headache, caused by leakage of cerebrospinal fluid. Try not to get one. If you do (perhaps because your normal-looking but nonetheless freakish spine led a total of three anaesthesiologists to make numerous punctures, using ever-larger needles, in a fruitless attempt to give you a spinal anaesthetic, culminating in an epidural instead), consider a blood patch, which is just as creepy as it sounds but works a hell of a lot better than Percocet.

Anyhow, still a lot to catch up with workwise. I did indulge myself with Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, and Kim Stanley Robinson, but they may take a while to write up. It’s easier to read while nursing than to type!

*eep*

Having known too many women (like, every woman I know who has given birth with an epidural in the past two years) who have suffered from spinal/epidural headaches, I desperately wanted to avoid anyone sticking a needle anywhere near my spine. Luckily, le babe "obliged."

Unfortunately, avoidance is not really an option with a c-section. :(

Happy birthday Rivkid 2.0 :D

Welcome, Rivkidlet! What a cutie -- and, clearly, a genius. *g*

I have mobile veins (which I always announce, and no one ever believes until they've tried using me as a pincushion a couple of times), so I wince on your medical behalf. On the other hand, the idea of something that works better than Percocet is strangely appealing. Glad everything was OK in the end!
