rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (save the cheerleader)

Did anyone else see that coat Mama Petrelli held up for Claire and think, "Hey, that looks awfully like the weird coat Sylar is wearing in Isaac's comic when he's skewered by Hiro"? Doesn't that suggest that Candice is going to create some illusion leading Hiro to skewer Claire by mistake?

Also, is it worse to be a damaging mother or an absent father and do damage by absence? Last night's episode made a big jump towards the former. Not pleased about that.

I noticed the emphasis on the coat and then the comic -- and I also noticed that I had thought (perhaps through inattention, as I've been watching Heroes after a night class all season) that Candice's power was just to imitate other people's forms, but tonight it explicitly stretched to being able to create larger "landscape" illusions, so there seems to be no reason she can't make another person look like someone else.

Apparently Candice was able to make Simone's body disappear earlier, but I hadn't noticed that -- I was also thinking of her as a shifter, though a very powerful one who could also change her clothes. And if she can change her clothes, then it stands to reason she can project illusions to some distance; we just learned last night that she is very powerful, and it's no wonder Sylar found her powers especially useful in the future. How did he find her, I wonder?

You know, it's possible that she could have made the mistake of looking like someone else at the wrong time and place -- Sylar thinks he knows who he's killing, but discovers the power he got wasn't the one he expected. He does know her name in "Five Years Gone," but he could have backtracked and found information about her.

I'll have to re-watch the episode I didn't really notice the coat he was wearing. Candice's power of illusion is pretty strong. She can extend it well beyond the cloak of her own body. Into the room or surrounding area she is in. To me her power is like projection, she projects an image around herself that she wants others to see.

She could extend the image to "wrap around" Claire and make her look like Sylar. Why would she have Claire wearing the same coat however? She tends to like her illusions to be more precise. She tries to notice a persons hairstyle, like Mrs. Bennett's, and copy it perfectly. Why wouldn't she change Claire's entire outfit to match the one Sylar was wearing? That would make more sense, it would also prevent someone from catching on to the fact that it was an illusion.
