So, is this show just your chance to see whether you can redo every XF episode?  Because I liked Jose Chung's Thrilling Tales (and I would just about die to see Jose Chung really show up in SPN, or read that story) just fine, but I have mixed feelings about remaking Hollywood A.D.  On the one hand, it's on my list of disliked episodes, but on the other y'all might improve it.

You know, there really should be an XF challenge in SPN.  And not the easy ones, but the Jebuslug and the ass-monster and the chupacabra.  Ooh, and the killer computer(s), just to see the boys do something sf-like.

What about that one with Tony Schalub, or however you spell his name. The guy who's shadow turned people into a greasy spot?

I didn't much like Hollywood A.D., but I loved the background shot of Scully showing Tea Leoni how she ran after the bad guys. However, the shot of Skinner taking a bubble bath scalded most other memories of that episode away.

Yeah, that would be a good one. Greasy smears could make for good banter.

Scully running in heels was hysterical, but it wasn't more than that -- it was cheap laughs at the expense of the character, like so much else about the episode. You only get to make fun of Scully if you love her deeply, and that episode didn't.

That would be an *awesome* challenge.

Every XF-inspired SPN story/crossover/fusion I've thought of so far has ended up sounding (in my head) more like meta than fiction. Hrm.

If JCFOS, Bad Blood, All Souls and Demons have already been mined for plot points, can killer kitties be far behind? I guess Hollywood AD is one step up. A little step.

I'd be plenty interested in the meta. But XF often left those last-scene "it's not really over" loose ends, so there's room for stories too, I think.

I personally want to see Sam and Dean go up against the Brady Bunch XF-style.

Or maybe meet God and have him be David Hasselhoff instead of Burt Reynolds this time.

The problem is, I'm not sure how I could prevent the late-season flashbacks from overwhelming me with remembered bile.

Heh - to be honest, I'm more concerned that if Supernatural starts mining late XF for inspiration, we'll end up with somethig along the lines of Sam carousing around on a spaceship, absent, and Dean mysteriously pregnant and consistently forgetting to look for him along with his new-found half-brother Rolf.

Hee! Dean mysteriously pregnant wouldn't be a huge problem for me. But new-found half-brother Rolf would definitely qualify as jumping the shark.

i realized that a) i am not sure i ever saw Hollywood AD more than once, i hated it so much on sight, that b) maybe i should give it another shot but i don't seem to have that season after all, and that c) honestly just Sam making that crack about spirits thinking the movie sucks gives me hope this could be better.

but i'm glad i'm not the only one who was just LAUGHING at the never ending, um. homage.

As one of the above comments pointed out, Scully running in heels is worth something, but not enough to redeem the episode. There's no need to give it another shot -- let SPN do it for you!
