rivkat: Lex Luthor: simmering rage is the new black (simmering rage)

So, I guess Gabe Sullivan is dead, eh? Because the guy we used to know surely would have come to his daughter's bedside if he hadn't been, oh, dead.

Thanks for nothin', Smallville.

The casting budget was earmarked for Peterson!!!

And it doesn't even cost anything to say "Oh, you just missed my dad -- he went to get me some coffee." Or even "I talked to my dad and he says he'll drive me out to the place where my mom is."

I think I was more enraged by Lex being all "Well, of course she should go to Belle Reve. They are always so helpful there and certainly never hold anyone against their will or actual psychiatric condition."

I thought Lex was not all that pro-Belle Reve for mental health. Rather, he doesn't much like Chloe anymore (just like he doesn't much like the rest of SV anymore) and thought it would be a good idea to do what Lana wanted -- because he loves her, just like everyone else does, and because it's a way to get back at Clark. And since Lex doesn't remember just what happened to him there, he may not know what they can actually do to a person -- though he probably has a general idea; he just doesn't care much.

Did you suspect that Lex suspects that Chloe knows something about Clark's secret and saw it as a good opportunity to find out? I sort of got that vibe from him, whether or not Lex would actually admit that even to himself.

I did get that vibe, but I find it unsatisfying: at this point, Lex should either have convinced himself that Clark is nothing special, or he should know, and the halfway suspicion stuff is getting very old.
