OK, now I need a list of the movies quoted (visually, I mean)--I only recognized a few, but what a great few! Along with their love for classic literature, the writers/showrunners clearly have a love for classic noir. Laura alone! And Spencer was made for black and white.  I loved the tragic lesbian romance, just tweaked a bit so that Paige and Aria could have one of those great two-level conversations; I loved the outfits, each appropriate to the women (Emily's glamor was upped, but that made sense given the tragic lesbian romance); I loved Hanna's job--connecting people, because of course she would; I loved the lighting with its focus on the women's faces.  Sadly, the actor who plays Spencer's boyfriend couldn't really handle the role, but by the end I thought he'd settled into it better.

OMG, they all looked sooooo gorgeous. Made for B&W. Loved it all.
I'm not sure exactly how it's all supposed to play out in terms of reality VS Spencer's hallucination, since Spencer was not in every scene, but I'm willing to handwave so much in thanks for this episode. :)
