Farscape rewatch continues apace

(Links go to Tumblr posts with screencaps from Farscape Caps.)  Out of Their Minds is still the best. Claudia Black is so wonderful—“they’re right there”—and heck, I agree with John there. Chiana perving on Rygel while in D'Argo and Crichton's bodies respectively: hilarious. This crew is so dysfunctional. And Ben Browder’s delivery of “Trust me” is another classic.

Then almost right after Out of Their Minds, we get Look at the Princess!

I have to say I enjoy the costumes in Look at the Princess a great deal, though obviously my favorite scenes don't involve them. Still, all that tight white for the women looks fantastic, and then the ridiculous flowing sleeves on the security guards (why?), and the apparently actually universal zippers on the dresses, plus the matching jewelry for the royal family. Then the pink/red for the wedding looks fantastic on Chiana and John, though that makeup is doing Katrala no favors.

Also, how much do I love that Jenavian Chatto pauses in her disrupting to praise John’s skills in bed/big astronaut dick? (John: “You’re late.” Jenavian, smiling: “I’m moving a little slow.”) Lots. I love it lots. (St. John of the Uncharted Territories = also Captain James T. Kirk of the Uncharted Territories, at least when it comes to the Sebacean ladies.) And of course the John/Aeryn longing here is at its best. Sigh.

I really, really want to rewatch this, but the DVDs are ridiculously out of my budget. I so loved this show.

Sorry to hear it! Amazon Prime may be the same, but if it isn't, they do have it streaming.

I've always loved the costuming for the royal planet (hot pink as the color of power!), especially the hideous court makeup. Though on my part this could simply be a childhood nostalgia for the saturated and weird aesthetic of ST:TOS.

Sometimes the costumes were just silly, but this time they really took the theme and ran with it, without shame--as the best of Farscape was.
