Pet peeve: people who get on the Metro and stop just inside the doors. Why?
Can we talk about why I love Pretty Little Liars? Ridiculous plot twists aside, the heart of the show is the complicated and emotionally realistic variety of relationships between these young women (and often their mothers). The most recent episode was a fantastic example. Emily has a certain amount of power because she’s gorgeous and charismatic. Exercising this power, however, is fraught and even dangerous, something that lurks in the background when Spencer calls Emily out on flirting with Brandon. Spencer reaches for the best available weapon here, which is very much in character, but she’s not wrong about what Emily is doing (nor is Emily wrong with her return serve about Spencer’s wealth). And Emily, because she is awesome in that way, owns it after her initial denial and then stops her manipulation as clearly as she started it. And it’s all organic to the relationship between these two young women—Brandon is affected by it, but he’s not at all the point. Ugh, I love them so much.
