In other news, I finally saw Inception, and I realized once again that not only do I not know why I become fannish about some texts (though I can retcon the heck out of my reasons!) I also do not know why I don't become fannish about others.  That said, I would probably read good Ariadne stories, if anyone has pointers.

I was disappointed that I did not become fannish about Inception since my whole reason for checking it out was the avalanche of squee and fic (okay, well a little bit because of JGL and TH). I'm not a Christopher Nolan fan but I enjoyed the movie and it was choc full of actors I like. Just did not engage me on a fannish level. I probably read more Inception fic before I saw the movie than after.

Yeah, Inception does absolutely nothing for me, except make me think that I enjoyed it more the first time I saw it - when it was called VR.5 and starred a woman.

I did like Ariadne, though. I did not like the complete lack of characterizations for her or anyone else. (Hey, you're an architecture student - want to do something that's extraordinarily immoral and likely illegal? No, no, don't take even five minutes to contemplate the morality of it or feel any conflict - that would get in the way of the art direction.)

While I did have fun watching Inception, it definitely isn't even a third as good as it's been made out to be.

There are good Inception fanfics, however. I'll have a looksee - sadly I don't know all that many stories about Ariadne, but there are a few, as well as some stories that are very intriguing overall even if you are not a fan.

The thing is, many Ariadne fics seem to pair her with Arthur and that just doesn't work for me. ....

So I guess I'll comment again when I've collected a few interesting links. You could try my inception recs (tagged at my DW, and there's a masterlist), but most of them are Eames/Arthur stories.

sighs. I wish, inception had worked for me. so that i could have been fannish, but alas nada.
