rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (chuck sarah)

Administrivia: (1) Fixed the link to the previous Impala stories -- they changed the internal organization of the AO3 just after I posted and the redirect doesn’t work on series, woe. (2) I’ve got some of those DW invite codes for anyone who wants. (3) Now I just need someone to explain to me in very small words how to jigger with the colors of my journal. (4) Ooh, and maybe add a banner! Of course then I would need a banner. I’ve never even managed to add a banner to my LJ.

Best comment on the Kindle I’ve seen so far: “I love my readers and I want them to read my stuff,” he said. “I’d write it out longhand for them if necessary.” I feel you, novelist Cliff Cleave. I feel you.

Chuck! I thought I could not love you more! Happily I was mistaken! So, Chuck decides to be a hero in order to follow the love of his life in her career of saving the world. Not sure I really want him to know kung fu now, but still: best motivation ever.

Spoilery Chuck comments

I was pretty happy with the finale of Chuck too - I liked that he had to make a conscious choice to be an intersect. The kung fu bit is cheesy but I think necessary because they've portrayed him as bumbling enough that for him to catch up enough to be a true agent alongside Sarah, he really needs a batch download of skills and the muscle memory experience and training would have given him. Bonus that this just so happens to have been already in the new intersect, but yeah. So I can forgive them for that.

I'm sad about realizing that they had to advance Morgan's arc in part because if we do (please!) get another season, Chuck had grown beyond the Buy More even if he hadn't chosen to become a hero. So a renewed Chuck is going to have to be a show without regular visits to our friends at the Buy More, which is OK by me. I do hope Ellie & Awesome can stick around, especially since they made Orion Chuck's dad.

OK, re journal colors, I just figured this out TODAY and only just started playing with it, but go here: http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/

If you like your theme, keep it. Then continue by clicking Customize Selected Theme at the bottom, which brings you to http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/options.bml.

Choose Style, and you get this: http://www.dreamwidth.org/customize/options.bml?group=style

You can just click on the colors and it gives you a nice rainbow gradient to pick colors & saturations. I'm still working out what everything is, but that should help you get started.

If you have a paid journal, this might also help: http://community.livejournal.com/thefulcrum/27856.html

Seriously, they need to do more with Ellie. Especially since it kind of totally sucks that now her brother and her husband know more about her family's reality than she does, that she doesn't get to have explanations for her father's disappearance or her brother's oddities or the clusterfuck that was her first attempt at a wedding. And she doesn't even get to know she was in mortal danger - and of COURSE it was the woman, who's been kept in the dark, who had to be the one in danger. So yeah. They damn well better do something more with Ellie.

I kinda liked the Buy More crew, but mainly as comic relief, if often way overdone. But I am content to see them go. It always bothered me that Chuck gets to be the nerd-as-hero but the other guys are feminized-in-a-bad-way and are laughable in any of their attempts to be the least bit heroic. They deserved more than their characterizations gave them.

Wacky. Definitely ask support, cos I got nothing. You're not using some random old browser or something that might not support it well?
