rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (Default)
([personal profile] rivkat Apr. 17th, 2003 09:16 pm)
New stuff: What rough beast, its hour come round at last and This grew; I gave commands;
Then all smiles stopped together
.

Also, Knight Rider is going to be a movie! (No real info in the story.) That, along with SciFi remaking Battlestar Galactica, satisfies my flashing red light-love.

And finally, if I ask really, really nicely, would someone make a SV video to the following, because Sondheim is fun:
Mother said,
"Straight ahead,"
Not to delay
or be misled.
I should have heeded her advice...
But he seemed so nice.

And he showed me things,
Many beautiful things,
That I hadn't thought to explore.
They were off my path,
So I never had dared.
I had been so careful,
I never had cared.
And he made me feel excited--
Well, excited and scared.

When he said, "Come in!"
With that sickening grin,
How could I know what was in store?
Once his teeth were bared,
Though, I really got scared--
Well, excited and scared--
But he drew me close
And he swallowed me down,
Down a dark slimy path
Where lie secrets that I never want to know,
And when everything familiar
Seemed to disappear forever,
At the end of the path
Was Granny once again.

So we wait in the dark, until someone sets us free
And we're brought into the light
And we're back at the start.

And I know things now, many valuable things
That I hadn't known before
Do not put your faith in a cape and a hood
They will not protect you the way that they should
And take extra care with strangers
Even flowers have their dangers
And though scary is exciting,
Nice is different than good.

Now I know, don't be scared
Granny is right, just be prepared
Isn't it nice to know a lot?
And a little bit not.

I really enjoyed the earlier draft of Ceremony of Innocence, and the revision is even better! It's a beautifully crafted story. :)

And thank you sooo much. I now have the chorus of "Into the Woods" stuck in my head on continuous play. ;) Good song choice.

Eeep! I left you off the beta readers list, didn't I? I'm really sorry & I appreciate all your help.

Oh, my god, I think I'd give a kidney to someone who made a vid to that.

Oh, I hadn't found your LJ before reading Ceremony Of Innocence, or I'd have commented here first :-).

Thanks for a really enjoyable read.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was the first SV story I started, and its slow evolution probably has something to do with the troublesome pacing issues. But I'm basically happy with its component parts, and I appreciate the recommendation.

Read Ceremony of Innocence today and came looking for your LJ. Just loved this in so many ways. Let me count them:

1. The pitcher metaphor. LOL. Very clever, and I loved seeing Lex try to decide if Clark was really that clueless.

2. Yet it had started, and innocence had fled with the first bite of the apple, so it hardly mattered if he stripped the tree of its fruit.

::sigh:: Perfectly voiced, from both the character and the author. Just perfect.

3. "And what lies do you tell yourself, Clark?"... "I tell myself you don't care about the things I don't tell you."

Forgive me for shortening the quotation; I'm typing from your text. This exchange just caught me in the gut.

4. If Clark were leaving anyway, Lex wouldn't lose much by binding Clark with every weapon at his disposal, not just his arsenal of sex. The important thing was to be certain about whether he wanted Clark in his bed or in his laboratory, and not to attempt the latter until he'd truly given up on the former.

Chilling to find Lex thinking this way after making a peace with Clark over the secrets. And his plans to turn Clark to the dark side? LOL. Great ending to the happily ever after alternative.

5. So many more little touches I can't even detail them all. *g*

Your fics are always very enjoyable, and I've probably been remiss in feeding back. I've been sporadic at best, but am making a concerted effort to be more consistant.

Incidentally, and off-topic of your fic, as I was friending you I noticed your interest in Bruce Wayne. I'm currently WiP'ing a kind of Clex in Gotham fic on my LJ. I'd never written Bruce before, but I find I'm liking him very much. Alfred, too. I've got a couple Batman fans reading along, but welcome opinions on my characterization. Unfortunately, he's not as much a part of this fic as I would have had him be if I'd known to begin with how much fun he is.

Okay, I think I've probably run on long enough. Thanks again for the great read!

Dana

Thanks so much. I'm glad the story worked for you; it's been a rough one on me.

I love Bruce; in fact, I would consider myself more of a Batman fan than a Superman fan, though more of a Lex fan than either. I'll check out your journal.
