First, groveling to
mimoletnoe, who kindly gave me a virtual box of chocolates earlier this month, and who was never yet thanked! Can we pretend I've been eating them slowly? If I can write you a thank-you drabble or something, let me know.
Second, though I totally understand and sympathize with those consumed with the Current Unpleasantness, my day went south for unrelated reasons, and what I really want to do is talk fantext. So, (1) wow, Chase really looks twelve when he's out of his lab coat. (2) He was not really angry at House, but playing good little soldier to help his daddy-figure get out of trouble. Which is a big thing for me; if he hadn't spent most of the episode looking twelve, I probably would have ended up liking him best. I am still wavering on the overacting "I am mad at you, House!" but I suppose it makes sense for a character who is not an actor to be overblown when consciously playing a role. (3) Excellent work by Omar Epps; Foreman knew House was right about his over-drawn-out goodbye, and you could see him realizing it, and deciding not to react; and just because House was right about that (as he so often is) doesn't mean Foreman should stay. (4) Cameron was in the mode I like best about her character -- passive-aggressive but also taking care of herself, telling House something she obviously thinks is only true on one level and entirely false on another.
But mostly, (5) a brilliant choice for House actually to be fine. And I believe that he is. I don't want to be spoiled, but I hope there is no reset. It would be nice to see him try with a new set. Maybe an immigrant, so we can get some new insufferable jokes. Also, in my dreams the "That's our Hitler!" woman would return.
