Superman Almost Returns

Not a spoiler for anyone else: We're in the second hour of SR at the Uptown, and all of a sudden -- the film melts!

At first it wasn't clear that this was not a regularly scheduled part of the movie.  Anyone ever seen film melt on a Cinemascope screen?  It's impressive.

But sad, very sad, since they couldn't fix it and I don't imagine I'll get a chance to see the end any time soon.

Please cheer me up.  Ideally with SV, VM, DW or some such shiny thoughts.

Routh was so hot he melted the film? That would have been cool, then distressing to see.

That has happened to me! While watching...Star Trek The One Where They All Become Young Again. I honestly can't remember the title, but I do remember wondering if that was supposed to happen. When it engulfed the entire screen, it became pretty apparent that the answer was "no."

that happened when i took my son to see Hook, here in laurel. they fixed it after a while and finished the film, which wasn't very good, btw.

what did you think of spacey in the first half? i liked hackman in the old films, but i've heard spacey's more threatening than funny.

Hee! I once had the film melt on me in the final ten minutes Mel Gibson's The Patriot, which frankly increased tenfold the enjoyment I got from that movie.

The exact same thing happened to me! Pre-opening screening last Tuesday night. Film melted about 3/4th of the way through.

Fortunately for us, they got it fixed in about 10 minutes. I think we skipped 2-3 minutes of film.
