rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (back off)

These podcasts are why the Internet was invented: two nice people in Urbana, Illinois, do a podcast of gothy music via local community radio each week. The one I first chose, from 2/16/2006, includes them getting a phone call midshow, but it's a phone call for another radio show and thus dealt with almost off-mic. They call themselves DJ ZoZo (Daniel) and DJ Kannibal (Kristen), and I like their taste, if not their DJ skills.

If you haven't had enough Serenity, the Big Damn Recap is for you. Some nice discussion of the movie's themes along with the recap. What I found most interesting about the recap is that the recapper didn't write about Wash's death. He just wrote around it, as if he couldn't get the sentence right, put it aside, and never came back to it. It was unspeakable.

That recap was interesting. I just read it tonight. It was almost reverent, rather than subtley (or not so subtley) mocking. Well, except for some jarring details he got incorrect. :)) But I was kind of o_O at the omission of Wash as well.

Heh, I was just thinking about posting a v. similar opening sentence tonight. I was listening to the coverville podcast, and topic this week was video game music covers. It sounds much more intriguing than it actually was, but the fact that it existed out there on the internet just made me happy.

DJ ZoZo, yes. Check out his blog (http://www.wildhunt.org/blog.html) which deals with Pagan religion.

Yeah I noticed how he just kind of skipped the death scene as well. I wasn't certain if it was purposeful or if he meant to go back to it but then forgot.

re: skipping mention of Wash's death

The recapper posted in the TWoP Firefly forum that he accidently left out the line about Wash dying, didn't realize it until too late and realized it worked perfectly that way.

It is a great recap, and so very un-TWoP-y.

It does work very well -- it made me stop and think.

Interestingly enough, Gmail put an ad for David Boreanaz's work for PETA on your comment. Gmail is smart, yet bizarre, which makes it perfect for Joss Whedon references, I think.
