I don't mean to nitpick, Tom, but is this really your plan?

Thanks for the clarifications! I read his discussion as focusing on "believe people when they tell you their stories" but I see what you're saying as well. To me, the book came across as saying "whatever helps you, helps you, but society is going to keep making lots of people really unhappy unless we change structures and values." I may be predisposed to treat causal claims as probabalistic, so I read him as relatively agnostic about biological causes or predispositions for many people and more focused on what could change about their situations.
