Welcome! I don't think that the book explores kink/S&M in any detail, though Ward does posit that the appeal of coercion comes from a desire to retain access to heterosexual privilege. (And that applies to heterosexual coercive narratives too--that is, she suggests that normative heteromasculinity is defined as being in charge of debasing one's sex partner.) From my reading, I think she puts "consensual kink," generally, in the category of queerness, but I'm hesitant to speak for her--it sounds like you might enjoy reading the whole thing.
