Random notes:

Asthma resurgence, probably triggered by having the AC out all weekend. (DC in summer, like being hit with hammer made of humidity.) Inhaler, opiates; we’ll see if they work.

I am this close to writing J2 Sime/Gen AU. Note: Sime/Gen is very different from gen. [personal profile] thuviaptarth can explain. Jensen Ackles with handling tentacles, umfh.

Darwyn Cooke with Dave Stewart, DC: The New Frontier v. 2: Late-fifties-era DC superheroes in the classic heroic mode except with acknowledgement of racism and McCarthyite fear of dissidents/others (sexism, not so much, but are you surprised?). Wonder Woman, though she got one fantastically disturbing/awesome scene, had even less to do than in the first volume—and she was pretty much the best thing about it—and everybody comes together in the end because of a bigger threat; I guess we’re all in this together. I think this might have been a lot of fun for teenaged me, and I suspect if you’re a fan of classic Hal Jordan, who gets a lot of screen time, or of J’onn, you might like it better than I did.

J.M. DeMatteis with G.L. Barr, Realworlds: Justice League of America: Realworlds are set in our universe—that is, Superman et al. are just fictional characters. In this one, a group of kids who played JL reunite as grownups at the behest of one of them, a software mogul, facing what their lives have become. It is exactly as sentimental as I should have expected, with no surprises. Also, if you play JL like this, your gang only has room for one girl.

Belated thanks, [personal profile] naanima, for the lemur!
