I will tell you how I would end the demon issue if I were writing Supernatural. I would have Sam still have at least one power, the power to open the door to Hell, BUT, this power would evolve into one where Sam can open doors into different universes. Eventually, he opens a door to a universe that does not contain a sentient race and is not eternal torture. He gives the demons a choice, go to this world and make of it what you will or stay in this world and die. Yes, I do in fact want the demons to be sent to a type of Australia where the can begin again, this time not surrounded by Hellfire, but by their own actions, with no one to hurt but themselves. The fact is that several demons have shown devotion to each other (Casey and the Priest in Sin City), devotion and the willingness to sacrifice to their God (Lilith, Ruby and the CRD that Sam killed when he tried to trade himself for Dean). I really don't want the demons to suffer, but they can't be allowed in this world. I would adore it if Kripke allowed this view of Lucifer and resolves this in some way.
