I'm rivkat (you know, I barely think of myself as RivkaT at all these days -- there's an interesting sociological phenomenon in there) at greatestjournal and insanejournal. (I now realize that I could have switched to rivka_t at least, but I was mired in my LJ mindset.) Using LJ-SEC and
brown_betty's useful guide, I put all my old entries up at insanejournal and it worked like a charm -- though I don't generally use specific posting filters and her post makes clear that there are issues with those. Also, sadly and necessarily, no comments transferred. I've been using LJ Book at the end of each year to archive posts with comments included; I recommend it, even though it means only you get the comments.
My plans:
1. Post duplicates at all three places, at least until I figure out where we are. I realize this isn't the greatest solution, since those of you who are also on the fence don't want to read me thrice. Any better suggestions gladly taken -- maybe I should just do a rivkat_rss feed? In the meantime, I found this guide to posting to multiple journals with Semagic very helpful.
2. I still want to be able to use friendslock on occasion. But it seems like to do that right across multiple journals without hiccups, it can't be a custom group. I'm pretty sure I can live with that.
I'm still sorting out the details. I really enjoy the structures LJ has built up, but as
sameoldhope says, fandom will survive. I just wish it would survive more conveniently.
