Via Blog of a Bookslut: Sometimes Even Wolverine Is Sad. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. The Bookslut is available as an xml feed for your friends page, by the way.
Fellow New Yorkers: Why didn't anyone tell me about the Housing Works Bookstore/Cafe down on Crosby Street? Much better organized (albeit smaller) than the Strand, chock full of quality books, most of them recent -- even a graphic novel section -- with hardcovers from about $12.50-4.00 and paperbacks about $2.00, except yesterday was 30% off day. Okay, so there are compensations to living in NYC.

There's also several HW thrift stores; the largest, which has furniture is on W 17th Street.
Next, you're going to tell me you don't know about Pearl River Mart. Sigh. What sort of orientation does your school GIVE new faculty?!?
