Who else is watching Revenge?

If you loved Profit, you should know that they are remaking it with a female lead, and that is awesome.  I thought they'd be careful to leave her more sympathetic, but no!  I mean, yes, tragic abuse backstory, but she shares that with Jim Profit. That, and a willingness to use anyone and everyone who will help her get revenge.

I'm watching Revenge, and I LOVE it. I love the intrigue, I love that Emily/Amanda (also known as Emanda) isn't a good person, she is a damaged person. I love Queen Victoria in all her icy bitchieness and I love that she is a complicated person. I have loved the take downs and I'm impressed that the show is willing to show Emanda doing more and more dangerous and sketchy things. I think Daniel is weak, but interesting. I adore Nolan, although I have no idea what he is up too. I even like Jack, although I desperately hope they do not make him Emanda's twu wuv, not because is is good and boring, but because she would each him for breakfast and spit him out if her revenge required it. I'm so so on Declan and Charlotte, but I'm willing to give it time. My greatest joy is that two women, one of whom is an age that Hollywood considers dispensable (Madalyn Stowe) are the strongest and most layered characters in the show. And it actually passes the Bechdel test.

Yes, Revenge is my favorite new show.

Same here. It's the only show this fall I'm pretty sure i'll keep. It's a gorgeous mix of old style soap, intrigue and scheming, and the beginnings of some wonderful character interaction. And yes, to have the main character intriguing but not really all that likeable (even as we do like her :) is great!!!

I love it too, for all the reasons you mentioned, although I'm even more meh on Declan.

I love it, and I wanted to ask- have you seen any fandom development? I'd love to read something where Emily does something really twisted for her revenge.
It seems lately that you need some slash to really get a fandom going these days, but I think we have that, too. Could Nolan be any more in love with Jack?

I haven't seen any fandom, sadly, but no, he could not be.

I decided to watch this show purely on the strength of your recommendation, and I am happy to agree with everything everyone has said about it. There seems to be a boomlet on network TV to present as main characters, or important secondary characters, people who are deeply damaged. I don't know if that reflects a new maturity in mainstream entertainment, or a darkening cultural Zeitgeist.

My only peeve is that, once again, people have ready access to and can easily use an omniscient-seeming technology that enables them to learn one another's deepest darkest secrets, and manipulate communications, presentations, and data reports, without having to work hard at it. I confess I'm tired of the uber-tech thing, but Revenge is hardly along in using it.

I'm just watching it now (had several eps backed up on the DVR) and am really enjoying it. Except she's too young. I mean, I'm sure the timeline works, but it's bizarre to me that a woman that age, living alone, would buy a massive beach house and be doing this whole money management thing and be listened to by the hedge fund manager without anyone even remarking that this is unusual.

Fair enough, but I'm working on the theory that the guys are too dazzled by her to notice this. The women definitely aren't.

I just realized - the main characters in this show are the Graysons. In Profit, they were - the Gracens!
