1. At long last, a cliche-fic is ready for a forgiving beta. [livejournal.com profile] mecurtin, your copy is already on its way. Any other volunteers?

2. New Power Mac G5 is on order. I'm bouncing up and down with excitement. I remember my Commodore Pet, with no hard drive, just a floppy disk, one of those big ones the size of a mortarboard. I was using DOS until December 1996, and after that computer, which sometimes couldn't be turned off because I had more in RAM than could be saved, I thought that 1 gig was an infinite amount of space. This one will have 500 gigs, and I fully expect to need more storage within two years. Moore's law is all well and good, but we keep adding these space-ravenous applications -- Final Cut Pro, which arrived this week, requires 15 gigs just to get out of bed in the morning. Anyhow, I'm very, very eager to play around with it, which just means I need to find Smallville episodes to play with.

3. Still flailing at my Santa story. Next time, kill me if I volunteer for any fandoms that just make me think "hey, that's neat" rather than sparking an actual working idea. I had an idea for Joan of Arcadia, dammit.

4. Another Sondheim icon. I like it, though I wish I could make animated icons with better picture quality.

That sounds so familialr. Ah, good times, good times.

Maybe it's the time of year to upgrade computers. I'm ready for a laptop (not a Mac user), and trying to buy online from Dell is frustrating. Grrr. Yet, my IT professional friends say, "Go with Dell!" But if I go with Compag (like my desktop) I can walk into a local store and walk out with a laptop for the same price as Dell's "deals" that must be shipped to me via UPS who I hate so intensely that I have the direct phone number of their CEO's personal assistant, Sean, for my next round of complaints after a sender uses UPS against my will.

Back to you.

I hope you enjoy Final Cut Pro!

I won't be able to get to the story till Tuesday, but if you still need a beta, you're welcome to send it to me - meret118@netscape.net
