If you post something you've found elsewhere on the 'net, and you *don't know who originally wrote it* because it's one of those essays that just gets passed around, and you don't indicate in any way that you didn't write it yourself, is that plagiarism?
I would call it plagiarism, because the expectation is that you wrote things you post unless you signal otherwise with explicit attribution or links. But if it's something really well-known (like a Shakespeare quote) I wouldn't call it that, because the quote marks are implied.
