Urgent note to Laurell Hamilton

When I told you to suck it up and start using specific words to describe sex organs ...

"Meat" was not one of the words I was hoping for.

On a happier note, thanks for the birthday wishes!

3 1/2 more weeks of class, and then I shall return to fandom.

Meat...is something I eat.

Boyparts? I prefer unharmed. Molested. By my mouth even, but not eaten. Meat just... makes me think butcher which...

*blinks*
You're serious? She really used "meat" to describe a sex organ?
*is baffled*

Twice.

Not totally surprising, given the preponderance of carnivorous shapechangers in her plots. Still... ew. There is just nothing remotely hot about it.

Personally, the line that made me physically cringe was "we've seen color before".

[identity profile] rivkat.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been thinking about it, and I can imagine most of this stuff being sexy between two actual people. Physical presence can make lots of stuff hot that isn't hot on the page. So "color" didn't bother me -- I decided to give all the dialogue a pass.

Thanks for the chance to mock the book!

I have often thought to myself that she is like a fanfiction writer, only without the handy ability to write sex. *sigh* Meat. *shudders*

"Meat" was not one of the words I was hoping for.

*giggle* Oh, that sounds...terrible, actually. Also funny. :)

I accidentally commented on the earlier book post.

So, I read Micah. Unfortunately.

I don't think I'll ever buy another one of her books again.

[identity profile] rivkat.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm at that point too. At least I didn't pay for this one.

[identity profile] raveninthewind.livejournal.com 2006-04-06 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I used a gift card, and I'll pass the book on, so I don't feel too ripped off. Just really disappointed at an author who got lazy and self-indulgent after attaining success, one in a long line of such victims of success.

I picked it up. Read a couple of chapters. Put it down and haven't been back since. I've read better fanfic. Infinitely better fanfic. *sigh*
