I am now really, really regretting that whole box of classic Trek books I lent to a friend in Colorado and never saw again (neither books nor friend!).
I had to re-purchase ISHMAEL, which is my favorite. Spock-angst! Rah!
I also got into Jean Lorrah's Trek books, classic and TNG, though mentally setting them aside into a sort of alternate universe as I read. I didn't always agree with her Spock-history, but enjoyed her take for the space of the books. And for me, there was the added bonus of a few Blake's 7 in-jokes.
