Your return to text links are broken. Checking the source code, it doesn't appear that you actually included the id's to which you refer?

I also, as a sighted user, found it confusing to have the notes inline, as footnotes, rather than endnotes, since this is a scroll, i.e. there are no pages with feet. However, I found this confusing as a sighted user who was skimming looking for your footnote anchors, since you said you were unsure if they had been done properly. I haven't read the story through properly to see if it works better that way.
