I don't like being the reader/commenter who says nothing more than "ooh, interesting!" but I'm basically gonna do that here. I'm new to your journal, I found your nonfiction reading selection interesting, I appreciate your summarizing it, and I, too, would enjoy a book on conspiracy theories like the one you describe but didn't find in Aaronovitch. I love conspiracy theories--I spent a certain period of my life believing in and following some of them, and I was a huge X-Files fan. Though I'm no longer a believer as such, I still resent the blanket condemnation that conspiracy theories are all theory and no conspiracy. A clear delineation of real conspiracies would be pretty cool.
