rivkat: Rivka as Wonder Woman (Riley gun)

The perfect place to raise a family ...

Of genetically engineered killer bats.

Sorry, but that tag line for a new SciFi Channel movie just got me. I mean, I'm a person who went to see Species because the tag line was something like, "For ten thousand years, humans have been at the top of the food chain.

Everything changes."

David Sedaris's Me Talk Pretty One Day meets the "can it make Rivka laugh out loud in the gym, in front of people who look at her funny" test. But man, is his family fucked up. The essay on family pets was simultaneously hilarious and heart-wrenching, as so much love can be.

There, that might justify this entry somewhat.

Try Sedaris' Naked. My reaction to "Dinah, The Christmas Whore" made my upstairs neighbor ask later, "Were you okay last night at one AM?"

Holidays on Ice is one of my favorite things to give as a Hanukkah gift.

Hmm. Barrel Fever didn't impress me, though it did survive the great purge of '02. But this book of essays was so funny that I expect I will be reading the rest of his work.

Great icon, by the way.

You know...I've never tried it. Bookstore staff warned me off it, while shepherding me to the stacks of other Sedaris works.
