was amused to read on amazon that fans of The Little Prince hate the newest translation, because by being more faithful to the original it betrays the spirit of the original. Now Americans too can enjoy the misogynistic, science hating and armchair philosophical drivelings in their intended obscure form, and they're not grateful at all.

So more than 3 years after you posted this, I found it. Thank you! For all my adult life I have heard how magical and Wonderful The Little Prince was and I was totally baffled because I got to read it in French Class in the original French and I hated the bloody thing. Finally I find out that the translation that people love isn't what I read. That makes me feel better. I mean, I'm never going to read that book again, but at least I understand the disconnect now.
