Now Americans too can enjoy the misogynistic, science hating and armchair philosophical drivelings in their intended obscure form, and they're not grateful at all.

So more than 3 years after you posted this, I found it. Thank you! For all my adult life I have heard how magical and Wonderful The Little Prince was and I was totally baffled because I got to read it in French Class in the original French and I hated the bloody thing. Finally I find out that the translation that people love isn't what I read. That makes me feel better. I mean, I'm never going to read that book again, but at least I understand the disconnect now.
