I've been waiting to comment on this story forever but felt I had to wait 'til the kamikazeremix reveals.
This made a really huge impact on me when I first read it -- it's a fascinating subject that I have NEVER seen anywhere else, and it really made me question a lot of things. My own discomfort in imagining Dean ugly highlighted how much I do, in fact, like my characters pretty. Kinda freaked me out, to be honest, because yeah, I KNOW I'm shallow and that's why I love Dean Winchester, but to have it pointed out in such a way? Intense. Plus, I was a funny-lookin' kid and a pretty decent-looking grownup, so I have experienced a similar (though WAY less drastic) transformation, and my ugly years continue to have an impact on me now even though I'm past them.

Anyway, thanks for this thought-provoking story.
