Auslander is something of a one-note instrument, which gets tiresome after a while. His memoir Foreskin's Lament exasperated me in much the same way that Beware of God did -- though there's one chapter of the memoir which I first heard as a standalone essay on NPR (on This American Life), and it's superb.
