I get a LOT of clients in for-profit colleges and I always wonder about the ethics of warning them about the issues you mention. It's not the sort of them where they can figure it out for themselves if I just ask leading questions - I'd have to explain it much as you do here. There's the additional issue of there not necessarily being better options.

It's too bad that community colleges won't do what the for-profits do for bad reasons, and make themselves more supportive of students' barriers and easier to navigate.
